Wildland Firefighting is a Heavy Strength job as defined by the National Occupational Classifications. Firefighting is strenuous work and includes lifting 55-75 pounds of weight, carrying varied amounts of weight on your hips and shoulders over a 12-16 hour period while constantly walking on variable terrain and frequently bending over.
