![]() Job related informationAkehurst and Giltrap has maintained an excellent work environment for crew and supervisors though the years. This has been achieved by a belief in mutual respect between planter, supervisor and boss as well as a focus on quality planting. Chris and Graeme are personally in the field or in camp every day of the planting season. While competition between planters is always present to a degree, A&G does not promote competition as a way to achieve high production. Rather, experienced planters planting quality trees in an excellent working environment ensures high production and mutual satisfaction. A&G uses new vehicles each year. The most common work vehicle is the F350 crew cab, many of which are equipped with a FIST unit. All drivers of company vehicles are required to have a British Columbia Class 4 drivers license. If you are interested in obtaining a Class 4 license use this link to ICBC's information page. Each crew has an official Occupational First Aid level III attendant. As well, all supervisors are trained OFA level I. The workplace and bush camps meet or exceed both Worker's Compensation Board and forestry company standards. This is put into practice in various forms such as reviewing on site emergency procedures for accidents or dangerous animal sightings. As well all vehicles are equipped with First-Aid Level I kits and two-way radios. Bush camps have self contained kitchen trailers (Atco), with attached heated dining tents of approximately 1000 sq. ft. Each camp has 2 qualified experienced cooks serving a variety of continental and Asian cuisine. Vegans and vegetarians are catered to as well. Ablution blocks are self contained Atco trailers with private shower facilities, each with hot and cold water. First-Aid Dressing Station and heated drying room are also provided, along with recreational facilities such as volleyball courts. |
